A Big Night with The Big Band

Fans of the Big Band sound are in for a treat next month, when Worthing’s Pavilion Theatre hosts a tremendous charity Big Band Night on Saturday April 5. The show features the highly acclaimed Alex Bondonno 18-piece Big Band, and they’re all set to take you on a trip down memory lane, in a celebration of some of the most exciting 20th century music ever composed. Famous tunes by Glenn Miller, Stan Kenton, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington and a host of others are guaranteed to set your toes tapping.

You’ll hear a fantastic cast of guest vocalists, too, directed by Simon Gray in a selection of songs made famous by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin and Ella Fitzgerald.  And it’s all in a good cause, as 10% of the net profits are being donated to Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice.

Dance the night away or just sit, relax and listen to the music. This brilliant evening is not to be missed – and tickets are selling fast, so you’ll need to book early. And the really good news is we’ve got three pairs of tickets for you to win. To enter our prize draw, just fill in the missing word, or words, in these Sinatra song titles:

A: I left my heart in ___ _____________
B: The _____ is a tramp
C: I’ve got the ________ on a string

Write your answers on a postcard, together with your contact details, and send it to Essentially Worthing Big Band Competition, 7 Phrosso Road, Worthing, BN11 5SJ, to arrive by Friday March 28, when we’ll be drawing three winners. Only one entry per household, please – and don’t forget to include a daytime phone number or your entry will not be valid.

The Big Band Night starts at 7.45pm (doors open at 7.15pm). Tickets are £15 (£14 concessions), available from the box office on 01273 563063.
